Back-end Upgrade

I’ve upgraded the software running the site, so please let me know if you encounter any glitches or weirdness. Unintended weirdness, that is. You can report bugs to me here.

Welcome!

Aha. So it seems you’ve found me. Not that I was hiding or anything; I mean, that would be easy enough on the web, right? I mean it’s far easier to not put up a website, after all. But anyway, here you are.

You may be wondering what there is to do now that you are here. Well, there are several things. There are movie reviews, book reviews, and television reviews, to start with. There are recipes. There are games. There are articles about all sorts of things, from silly stuff to politics to rants about any topic. There are stories and poems. There is art. There is a huge picture gallery. There is a webcam (though it isn’t on very often because I haven’t gotten it to work totally right under Windows Vista) and a personal journal. You can also read my dream journal if you like, though it gets pretty weird in there. There is a forum full of the friendliest people you’ll find on the internet, ready to welcome you to our community. There’s lots more, but that’s a start at least.

All that stuff can be found either from the buttons at the top or the links down the left side of the page in that paper scroll looking thingie. (Do notice that depending on where you are—for example, the gallery pages or my journal—the links on the left may offer additional options.) Poke around, try not to get lost, have fun, tell your friends. Oh, and pack a lunch.

The Nature of "God"

I’m going to open this can of worms. Politics and religion are the two topics you’re never supposed to bring up because it’s too easy to offend somebody or get into big arguments, but I’m going to do it anyway. I generally refer to myself as “pagan” for simplicity’s sake, but my actual beliefs are more philosophical and vague than that, in reality.

One thing I do not believe in is a god (I will be...

Clinton Campain + Bubblewrap!!!

I was contacted yesterday by a representative of Hillary Clinton’s campaign team asking if they could license my Virtual Bubblewrap for use in her newest online campaign ads. We haven’t worked anything out for sure yet, we’re still in the talking phase. Some of the ideas we’ve discussed are replacing the “random noise” bubbles’ sounds with sound bites from Hillary’s political speeches, or having the background be a picture of Hillary once all the...

    Ding

In the ongoing saga that is Ding's foot, Dan is at the clinic with her right now. Hopefully all Dusty is doing is a bandage change. For those not keeping score at home, Ding is my 18 year old neurotic cat who chewed off her left dewclaw (toe) last summer. We've been trying to get it to heal ever since. The problem is she will not leave it alone. If we take the big satellite...

Possible light at the end of the tunnel.

I just got off the phone with my mom and some of her stocks are doing a little better and so she may be able to help out some in the fall. That would be great. She already helps a lot by paying for my books & supplies, by the way--she's done that all along and there's no way I would have been able to even go to school if I had to buy that...

    Squirrel Attack!!!

The original clip is old, from 2004, but I put it together with some fancy titles and sounds and made it into an exciting action/adventure movie:

    Very, very bad $ news

Ok so today I got the letter from the school saying that my residency petition had been denied. This means that in the fall I will still have to pay out of state tuition*. That's around $7,500. My financial aid total (pell grant + subsidized + unsubsidized loans) is $7,616. Then I got the merit scholarship, half of which applies to fall semester. That brings tuition down to just over $5,560, which gives me about...

    A huge fire

In this dream I was down in Cleveland, I think at some school-related function. There were a lot of people and it was very festive. Then something happened but I can't remember what, and we started hearing reports that there was a fire raging in another part of the city. Multiple fires, actually, and spreading. I joined some people with these very weird hoses with very complicated nozzles. We started wetting down everything, to prevent...

    Lyrics Game: "face"

    05/12/2008 09:36 PM
The rules: Quote a section of lyrics that uses the word "face". (Please limit quote to one verse or chorus.) Give credit to the title and the singer or songwriter.

Whenever I see your smiling face
    I have to smile myself
    Because I love you.
And when you give me that pretty little pout
    It turns me inside out.
    There's something about you, baby.
