I made this dagger when I was 18. It’s grade A tool steel that I cut into the knife shape, then ground down to a blade on a belt grinder. The pommel and guard I did a lost-wax casting in pewter, unfortunately I didn’t have a centrifuge so I melted the pewter in a frying pan on my stove and just poured it and hoped for the best. It actually looks fairly neat, like it’s really old. The handle is cherry wood, and used to be wire wrapped but the wire has mysteriously gone missing and I haven’t replaced it yet. The whole thing is really well balanced and exceedingly sharp. The handle looks big, but it’s very comfy. I really want to make more knives, as they are really fun, but I don’t have access to the equipment anymore :(
I decided not to spend too much time finishing the base of the blade where it meets the tang, because I liked the sort of rough look that it had. It made it look… I dunno. Kinda cool.
