Just to help keep things straight, the cast of characters appearing in my various tales…

Me, OpalCat/Katherine, born February 11, 1972 in Tucson, Arizona, currently living in Massachusetts, about a half-hour west of Boston. Married in 1991 at age 19, which lasted 15 years; remarried in 2009 at 37.

Dominic, my son, born September 15, 1995.

Dan, my husband, born February 22, 1977; originally from Atlanta, Georgia, who attended podiatry school in Cleveland, OH, and with whom I currently live in Massachusetts. Met at a juggling convention.

Rob, my ex- husband, born October 29, 1969. Born in Ohio, raised in Phoenix, Arizona. Works as a unix sysadmin. One of my best friends.

My mom, an attorney, raised in New York, lives in Arizona, born November 1952. Divorced from my dad when I was a baby.

My dad, an engineer, raised in Connecticut, lives in Tennessee (formerly Florida), born in July 1952. Currently married to his third wife with whom he has 5 natural children and one stepson.

Sherry, my dad’s wife. They were married in 1992.

Christian, Caleb, Bailey, Kaely, Kindall, my siblings by my dad and Sherry, the eldest of which is only a few years older than my son.

Aaron, Sherry’s son and my step/half brother. Born November 1982. My father legally adopted him when he was eleven.

Sonia, a nurse, lived with my mom from the time I was three. Raised in Minnesota. Died in 1995 of breast cancer. She was like a second mother to me.

Barry, my godmother. She’s a sort of hippy lady, and a lesbian. She was with Kathleen for most of my childhood, but they broke up when I was about 17.

Kathleen, she was Barry’s partner for aeons, but they broke up when I was about 17. She is my son’s godmother, and lives with her partner out in the boonies west of Tucson, AZ.

Maternal grandparents:
Granddaddy, a pediatrician, died from cancer in 2002 at the age of 92 in Connecticut.
Grammy, a nurse, died when I was in 7th grade, of cancer.

Paternal grandparents:
Grandma Doll, who was my favorite person for most of my childhood. Lived in Connecticut. Died from cancer in 1987, on her husband’s birthday, the same day a friend from school died. She was 59, I believe.
Grandpa Doll, married my grandmother when my dad was a child. Died a few years ago.
Granddad, divorced from my grandmother when my dad was a child, lived in Florida, married 3 times, died when I was in high school following surgery to treat a brain tumor.
